The 15″ JBL PRX735 1500W Three-Way Full-Range Self-Powered Speaker is designed for full-range live sound reinforcement applications with or without a subwoofer, such as concerts, schools, and houses of worship, among others. The speaker is built from poplar plywood with an obsidian DuraFlex finish using tongue and groove joinery for stronger bracing and less box vibration. It utilizes a 15″ low-distortion, low-frequency woofer, a 6.5″ horn loaded midrange transducer, a wave-guided 1.5″ diameter high frequency neodymium compression driver, and a class-D amplifier to achieve a maximum SPL of 136 dB and a boosted frequency response of 34 to 20,000 Hz.
For easy transport and setup, the speaker includes two injection molded handles, 16-guage steel dent resistant cloth backed grills, and integrated M10 suspension points for hanging.
The back panel of the speaker features two combination 3-pin XLR and 1/4″ balanced inputs for microphone and line with a selector switch as well as a pair of unbalanced RCA inputs. Two gain control knobs allow you to adjust the input signal on channels 1 and 2, and a 3-pin XLR male thru connection with thru selector switch enables passing audio to another powered speaker or amplifier. The device includes an EQ boost button for widening the speaker’s frequency response and a button for turning on and off the power/standby LED on the front of the device.
The speaker’s crossover, dynamic limiting, component optimization, and selectable EQ boost is handled by a dbx type IV circuit. The unit can be used by itself or connected with other active powered PA speakers to build larger systems for more crowd coverage and extended low frequency response.
